Why Illinois?

Illinois had so many resources available to students such as CARE tutoring (which I am now part of) and Engineering Ambassadors. Illinois also had Physics in their Engineering Department, which allowed me to pursue my interests while also obtaining a rigorous engineering education.

What has been your best experience at Illinois?

Engineering Ambassadors has been an amazing organization to be a part of. I love going on visits, connecting with the Champaign-Urbana Community, and helping change the conversation about what it means to be an engineer.

Favorite part about being an engineering student?

I've had the chance to meet so many people who are just as passionate about engineering as I am. There are so many amazing students, instructors, and advisors who I have come into contact with.

Why did you join EA?

I did speech and debate in high school and wanted to continue my development with speaking and presenting. Engineering Ambassadors allowed me to continue working on these skills, and like I mentioned previously my time in the organization has been worthwhile.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree?

Don't overload yourself. My Freshman and Sophomore years I was doing way too much, thinking quantity over quality would get me to where I wanted to be. Slow down, don't do college at 100 miles per hour because it will soon be past you. Choose the things you really care about and focus on those.

What do you plan on doing post-graduation?

Graduate School in Civil/Transportation Engineering, possibly at Illinois.
