Why Illinois?

The UIUC's ECE program is one of the best in the nation; however, aside from the obvious academic reasons, I am also interested in renewable energy and I believe that UIUC is more focused on establishing a cleaner campus than other schools.

What has been your best experience at Illinois?

I think working on the different projects we make in class is always a fun experience. My favorite was definitely the radio in ECE 210.

Favorite part about being an engineering student?

My favorite part is learning how to find creative solutions to different problems. There are different ways to approach a problem and seeing the different ways to tackle them is always very cool. I think it also opens up our minds to see how we can improve the lives of others as we see different problems in the world.

Why did you join EA?

I joined EA because I like teaching and helping others. I want to help others learn more about engineering and help them enjoy it as I do.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree?

Find what you like to do. Even in a single major, there are many different specializations and things you can do. If you have a clear goal in mind and understand what you are working towards, classes become much more exciting and interesting.

What do you plan on doing post-graduation?

In the short term I am planning on continuing my education and going to graduate school. In the long term, I hope to become a professor and do research in the field of power and sustainability.
