Civil Engineering
Class of 2018

Hometown: Chengdu, China

Research/Work Experience: I am an undergraduate research assistant in the Environmental Lab and with Prof. Timothy Stark.

Other campus activities: Outside of EA, I am involved with Bridge to Prosperity and BOLD.

Why did you join EA? I joined EA to be a confident and talkative engineer, develop myself to a more well-rounded person, and boost the importance of engineering in the community.

What’s your favorite part of being an engineering student? Studying knowledge that can actually change the quality of life for people.

What made you come to the University of Illinois? It has an outstanding Civil Engineering ranking.

What has been your best experience at Illinois? Besides academic knowledge, I really cherish the teachers, friends and classmates I have met during the past three years. School is such an unique environment that makes you encounter those who you might not encounter if you weren't in school.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree? Being proactive, learn in advance, plan early, and work hard but be steadfast.

What do you plan on doing after graduation? Prepare for both working and grad school but, most importantly, find my lifelong passion.
