Sarah Gardner

Agricultural & Biological Engineering
Class of 2020

Hometown: Arlington Heights, IL

Research/Work Experience: I recently started working in the biowaste labs with the ABE department.

Other campus activities: Outside of EA, I'm also involved with Alpha Omega Epsilon and am a Lector at St. John's Catholic Newman Center.

Why did you join EA? I wanted to be able to share what I have learned with younger students and teach them how important engineering is to our society.

What’s your favorite part of being an engineering student? I love being able to apply the things I learn to real world problems.

What made you come to the University of Illinois? I liked the idea of a big school and in state tuition is great. I also knew this was the best engineering school out of the ones I applied to so it was a no brainer.

What has been your best experience at Illinois? I don't know yet... but I have several more years to figure it out!

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree? Do it because you can do anything with a degree in STEM.

What do you plan on doing after graduation? Yikes, haven't gotten there yet.
