Bioengineering
Class of 2018

Hometown: Wheaton, IL.

Research/Work Experience: I was a Cisco Systems, Inc. Technical Sales Engineer Intern (Summer 2015).

Other campus activities: Outside of EA, I keep myself busy by participating in the Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, Society of Women Engineers, and Biomedical Engineering Society Engineering Open House.

Why did you join EA? I joined EA because I was interested in developing my communication and presentation skills. I also have always loved working with kids, so when I read about EA's mission I decided to apply.

What’s your favorite part of being an engineering student? The amazing community that you can form here.

What made you come to the University of Illinois? Illinois is unique in the sense that is a top-tier engineering school, but so much more than that. Illinois has all the benefits of being a big school and it is still possible to make this school "small" and find your niche, whether it be within an engineering organization, sports, or other activities. Illinois has world-class professors, laboratories, and so many opportunities. The combination of things you can do here is unmatched by other schools.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree? Don't compare yourself to others. Find something that sparks your interest, so that you can pursue it wholeheartedly.
