Why Illinois?

Top MatSE Engineering Department

What has been your best experience at Illinois?

There hasn't been a "best" experience at Illinois because every day, something different happens. I learn something new or meet another unfamiliar face. Can't choose a best one.

Favorite part about being an engineering student?

I feel like I'm working towards making a difference. As gritty as it gets or overwhelmed I feel, it is good to know that one day, I'll be using my knowledge to improve something in the world.

Why did you join EA?

One of the biggest lessons I learned growing up was appreciation, and a big part of that is giving back. I'm appreciative to those who steered me towards the STEM field and the best I can do is repeat the process. EA works a lot with promoting the STEM field to younger students who have the largest imagination, but may not know what they want to do in life yet.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree?

The DUMBEST thing you can possibly do, is think you should go through the process alone. Find friends, network and help others succeed and they will do the same.

What do you plan on doing post-graduation?

On the fence about grad school or not.
