Why Illinois?

The civil engineering program is one of the best in the country. In addition to my major, attending Illinois allowed me to continue participating in band my freshman year as well as taking on an anthropology minor. Attending Illinois allowed me to pursue a variety of interests while still getting one of the best educations I could ask for.

What has been your best experience at Illinois?

Getting to meet so many different, wonderful people who have truly changed my life.

Favorite part about being an engineering student?

All the opportunities you have to try new and different things (like making concrete float).

Why did you join EA?

I joined EA to help share my love of and vision for engineering. I see engineering as being a way that you can change the world for the better, but to do that we need a more diverse, inclusive community that will not happen without work.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree?

Have fun with it. There are so many different things you can do in STEM. It's important to find something that makes you excited to learn.

What do you plan on doing post-graduation?

Currently I am considering pursuing a Master's degree. However, over the long term, I hope to be able to use my knowledge in both the engineering and anthropology fields to help improve public and affordable housing.
