Why Illinois?

I chose Illinois for a lot of reasons. The easier ones were that I was in-state, my older cousin went here (EE'19), and Illinois was ranked in the top 10 for best undergraduate engineering curriculums. I also wanted a college experience that would open my eyes to different people, perspectives, and that would challenge my thinking. After visiting Illinois and learning about it through the eyes of a student, I knew it was right for me.

What has been your best experience at Illinois?

Joining Engineering Ambassadors!

Favorite part about being an engineering student?

My favorite part about being an engineering student is working and conversing with bright people to solve complex problems.

Why did you join EA?

I joined EA because I enjoy making science fun for the younger generation, especially when that generation is classically underrepresented. I believe that opening someone's eyes to the beauty of math and science is a priceless gift.

What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a STEM degree?

Find your why so that you can overcome any how. In other words, dig really deep and ask yourself how a STEM degree aligns with what you think your purpose is. Pursuing a STEM degree will stretch you mentally in ways that will test your rigor and self confidence, plus it's a very bumpy ride.

What do you plan on doing post-graduation?

I plan on going for my MEng here at Illinois with a focus on circuits and algorithms.
